For Speech Language Pathologists:
This book can be in your waiting room and/or can be used for all ages to start a discussion on healthy communication, their rights as a speaker, and their expectations of their listeners.
In this story Melissa is a character who doesn’t give up. She plows ahead and wants to participate in the world around her and express herself. She doesn’t avoid words and does not withdrawal from speaking situations. This is my wish for all children who stutter.
If you have any questions or comments please contact me. You are often the first point of contact for people who stutter and their families. Your role is so important and it is very important that SLP’s who specialize in stuttering to be connected to the stuttering community. We all need to work together to make the lives of people who stutter better. Stuttering can be extremely challenging for children to navigate, but it doesn’t need to be.
